About Little Wings Limited – Free Flights for Sick Children in Regional Australia
Little Wings Limited is a DGR-endorsed charity, registered with the ACNC since 2012, providing free, professional flight and ground transport for seriously ill children and their families from regional and remote NSW, ACT and QLD to access specialist medical treatment in major cities. Established in 2011, the organisation eases the physical, emotional and financial burdens of long-distance travel, enabling families to stay together during treatment. With a fleet of 4 Baron planes and 1 Navajo, Little Wings operates from 3 hangars in Bankstown, Cessnock and Archerfield, having flown 5 million kms since 2012 and reached 6,000 families in rural areas.
Programs and Services
Little Wings delivers air transportation across 55 regions, with missions departing every hour, 7 days a week, up to 70+ missions weekly. Services include ground transportation supported by Hyundai Help for Kids vehicles, and Medical Wings pop-up clinics partnering with local hospitals, Aboriginal Medical Centres and primary health clinics. In FY22, Medical Wings ran 129 clinics in regional NSW, serving an average of 25 paediatric patients per doctor daily. All flights comply with Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) standards, using twin-engine Beechcraft Baron aircraft equipped for instrument flight.

- Completed 2,371 missions in FY24, supporting 5 partner hospitals.
- 90 volunteers contributed 19,024 hours in FY24; 100% volunteer pilots and drivers with commercial licences and minimum 1,000 flying hours.
- Saves 8,000 hospital beds annually; 53% of children assisted have cancer.
