Miriam Rose Foundation Aboriginal Corporation is a charity dedicated to empowering Indigenous children and youth by fostering a strong connection to their culture, creativity, education, and opportunities. Founded by Dr Miriam-Rose Ungunmerr-Baumann AM, an Aboriginal Elder, educator, and artist, the Foundation supports young Indigenous Australians to confidently navigate both their traditional cultural world and the modern Australian society.

Mission and Vision

The Foundation’s mission is to help Aboriginal youth walk confidently in two worlds by nurturing their cultural identity, creativity, and self-belief. It achieves this through programs grounded in the spiritual practice of Dadirri, which means deep listening and quiet awareness. The vision is to create a future where Indigenous children feel proud of who they are and where they come from, empowered through culture, education, and creative expression.

Benefiting Groups

The Foundation primarily benefits Indigenous children and young people in remote communities, especially in the Northern Territory, including the home community of Nauiyu. It also supports families, schools, and communities involved in nurturing Indigenous youth.

Services and Activities

• Educational programs that assist students with school attendance, transitions to boarding schools, and pathways beyond Year 12.
• Art and cultural workshops encouraging self-expression through painting, storytelling, and music.
• Youth and community outreach visits that build relationships and guide young people back to culture and confidence.
• Special initiatives like the Music Hub and IT Hub, which provide access to instruments, technology, and creative digital skills.
• Promotion and teaching of Dadirri, a contemplative practice fostering inner peace and connection to Country.
