The organisation operates from Plumwood Mountain, a heritage-listed site of environmental and cultural significance located on the lands of the Walbunja peoples of the Yuin Nation. Plumwood Incorporated is committed to fostering eco-cultural change through decolonial practices and environmental humanities, working closely with Indigenous custodians and local communities to promote sustainable and respectful relationships with nature.

The mission of Plumwood Incorporated is to care for Val Plumwood’s legacy by facilitating decolonial environmental cultures and promoting eco-cultural change. The organisation envisions a future where environmental and cultural heritage conservation is reconfigured through Indigenous custodianship and collaborative stewardship, ensuring that both human and more-than-human communities thrive together in respectful coexistence.

Main Objectives

• Preserve and manage Val Plumwood’s heritage-listed house and gardens as a living museum of environmental humanities and activism.
• Support and expand public programs that engage with place-based environmental and cultural education.
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with the Batemans Bay Local Aboriginal Land Council and local First Nations custodians.
• Facilitate residencies, workshops, and retreats for artists, activists, and scholars to explore ecological and social justice themes.
