SMEAC Inc. is a veteran-led charity based on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, dedicated to providing practical, hands-on support, purpose, and community for Australian Defence Force veterans and their families. Founded and operated entirely by volunteers, SMEAC focuses on helping veterans successfully transition to civilian life through a structured approach that emphasises reconnection, rehabilitation, retraining, and reintegration. The organisation operates from Camp SMEAC, a purpose-built sanctuary offering a peaceful environment for healing and renewal.

Mission and Vision

The mission of SMEAC is to promote healthy, active, and socially connected veterans by delivering real, practical solutions aimed at reducing veteran suicide and improving overall wellbeing. The vision is to create a lasting, positive impact on the lives of veterans and their families, ensuring no veteran is left to face the challenges of life after service alone.

Main Objectives

• Provide emergency accommodation and crisis support for veterans in need
• Offer wellbeing coaching to empower veterans to navigate the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) system and broader life challenges
• Deliver rehabilitation programs addressing mental and physical health
• Facilitate skills training and employment opportunities to help veterans find new purpose
• Build strong community connections through social activities and veteran-led clubs
• Deploy rapid response and mobile outreach teams to support veterans in crisis and those living in remote areas
