Taree Indigenous Development and Enterprise Ltd (TIDE) is an Aboriginal controlled, community-based non-profit organisation established in 2008 in the Mid North Coast region of New South Wales. It operates primarily to support the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, especially the Biripi and Worimi communities across areas including Taree, Forster/Tuncurry, Gloucester, Wauchope, and Port Macquarie. As a registered charity and a Tax Deductible Gift Recipient, TIDE delivers a range of culturally appropriate services and programs aimed at fostering development, employment, and cultural restoration.

TIDE’s mission is to empower Aboriginal people through sustainable employment, training, and community development opportunities that respect and promote cultural heritage. Its vision is to create a thriving, self-determined Aboriginal community that leads in cultural, social, and economic development within its traditional lands.

Main Objectives

• Provide employment and training opportunities for Aboriginal people to build skills and economic independence.
• Support cultural restoration and environmental management through programs like Working on Country and the Cultural Restoration Strategy.
• Enhance community wellbeing by delivering support services tailored to Aboriginal families and individuals.
• Promote road safety and access through initiatives such as the Driver Licensing Access Program.
• Engage parents and carers in education via the Parent and Community Engagement program.

Benefiting Groups

The primary beneficiaries of TIDE’s work are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly the Biripi and Worimi communities. Services also extend to Aboriginal people living in surrounding regions from Ballina to Newcastle, supporting individuals, families, and community groups.
