About The Returning Indigenous Corporation and Its Work
The Returning Indigenous Corporation is an Indigenous women-led not-for-profit organisation based on Bundjalung Country in Northern NSW. Established in 2018, it is governed by a majority Indigenous, all-women Board of Directors and is dedicated to reconnecting people with Country, community, and ancestral culture. The organisation fosters healing and cultural renewal by creating spaces where Indigenous and non-Indigenous people can come together to learn, share, and support one another.
Mission and Vision
The mission of The Returning Indigenous Corporation is to bring all people back into right relationship with self, community, and Country, promoting healing for individuals and the planet. Their vision is a world where all Indigenous people have access to culture, community, and Country, where families thrive in health and wellbeing, and Indigenous knowledge keepers are honoured and remunerated for their wisdom. They also envision a society where both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people understand their roles as carers and protectors of the land, fostering community and planetary wellbeing through cultural practices and nature therapy.
Main Objectives
- Provide opportunities and support for Indigenous women, Elders, and families to connect with Country and cultural knowledge
- Recognise and remunerate Indigenous cultural knowledge holders
- Improve health and wellbeing through culturally safe and holistic programs
- Build deep connections between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities
- Offer employment and mentoring opportunities for Indigenous youth, women, artists, and Elders
- Deliver nature therapy, health retreats, family support services, and cultural education
