The 4th Battalion The Royal Australian Regiment Association QLD Inc. is an organisation formed by former and serving members of the 4th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (4 RAR). Established formally in 1985 in Brisbane, Queensland, the association grew from earlier informal gatherings dating back to 1974, aimed at celebrating the Battalion’s birthday and preserving the strong bonds of comradeship among its members. The association serves as a vital link between past and present members, fostering a sense of brotherhood and honouring the Battalion’s distinguished history and traditions.

Mission and Vision

The association’s mission is to perpetuate the close bonds of comradeship and esprit de corps created by past and present members of the 4th Battalion. It envisions maintaining the legacy, welfare, and welfare support of its members and their families, while preserving the Battalion’s history and honouring those who served and sacrificed.

Main Objectives

• Assist widows and children of deceased members by providing funeral support, eulogies, and referrals to relevant agencies.
• Support sick, wounded, and needy veterans through hospital and home visits.
• Provide referral services to advocacy, pension, and welfare agencies for members requiring assistance.
• Preserve the memory of fallen members via commemorative services, newsletters, and the 4RAR Honour Project.
• Maintain and promote the Battalion’s history through a dedicated website, newsletters, and museum contributions.
• Uphold Battalion memorials including the 4RAR memorial at the Australian War Memorial and the Royal Australian Regiment National Memorial Walk.
• Protect the Battalion’s reputation by engaging in community activities, commemorations, and providing memorabilia.
• Support families of serving members with moral and physical assistance during operational deployments.
• Ensure financial sustainability through sound management, grants, and sponsorships.
