The organisation focuses on integrating traditional Aboriginal knowledge with contemporary environmental practices to care for the land, waterways, plants, and animals that have sustained the Barapa Barapa people for over 60,000 years.

The mission of Barapa Land & Water is to establish a strong foundation that supports cultural preservation while fostering employment, training, and education opportunities for the Barapa Barapa community. Their vision is centred on preserving culture, empowering community, and restoring country by increasing cultural connection to land and water, promoting community wellbeing, advancing self-determination, and ensuring the continuation of cultural heritage through sustainable land and water management.
