Main Objectives

• To ethically breed, rescue, or rehome and then train dogs to become skilled Assistance Dogs, specialising in breeds such as Golden Retrievers and Labradors known for their temperament and reliability.
• To carefully match each Assistance Dog with a suitable handler, ensuring the partnership is sustainable, ethical, and impactful for both the individual and the dog.
• To provide ongoing support, training, and accreditation for the life of the partnership, maintaining the welfare and public access rights of both the handler and the dog.
• To offer dignified retirement options for Assistance Dogs through programs like Honoured Service, which places retired dogs with elderly individuals or in retirement facilities, covering all associated care costs.

ENDEX AUSTRALIA LIMITED primarily serves Australians aged 17 and over who have a diagnosed physical and/or psychosocial disability. The organisation’s services are designed for individuals who demonstrate the capacity and commitment to care for an Assistance Dog and who would experience a meaningful improvement in their independence, safety, and wellbeing through such a partnership. Each application is thoroughly assessed to ensure the best possible match between the dog’s skills and the applicant’s needs.

Types of Services and Activities

• Training and Placement: Endex Service Dogs trains dogs to perform specific tasks that assist individuals with disabilities, including PTSD Assistance Dogs, Psychosocial Assistance Dogs, and Mobility Assistance Dogs. The organisation does not train dogs for guide, hearing, or medical alert purposes.
• Handler Training: Successful applicants undergo a comprehensive training program, including a minimum six-month handler training period and a two-week intensive team training and bonding session prior to placement.
• Ongoing Support: Endex provides lifelong support to each partnership, including regular check-ins, training advice, and annual Public Access Tests to maintain accreditation.
• Community Engagement: The charity relies on donations, sponsorships, grants, and public fundraising to cover the significant costs associated with raising, training, and placing each Assistance Dog. A modest contribution is requested from successful applicants to demonstrate shared commitment to the partnership.
• Honoured Service Program: This initiative ensures retired Assistance Dogs can continue to provide companionship and comfort in their retirement, particularly to elderly individuals or those in retirement facilities, with all care costs covered by Endex.
