Kulungah Myah Toy Library

Kulungah Myah Toy Library, trading as Kardinya Toy Library, has been a vital community resource for over 30 years, operating from the Kulungah Myah Family Centre. It was established to provide local families with access to a curated collection of high-quality toys, puzzles, games, and costumes, fostering extended play opportunities for children. The library promotes sustainability, community connection, and child development through shared resources, reducing the need for families to purchase and accumulate toys.

The Toy Library’s mission is to offer affordable access to a wide range of engaging and educational toys that support children’s physical, mental, and creative growth. It aims to nurture a sustainable, inspired, and playful journey for children while encouraging active citizenship and community-building among families. The vision is to remain a long-standing, community-minded service that values friendship, sharing, and resourcefulness, ensuring families in the City of Melville and surrounding areas can benefit for many years to come.

Benefiting Groups

The primary beneficiaries are families with children from newborns through to primary school age, particularly those living in Kardinya and neighbouring suburbs. The Toy Library also supports local students completing community service and volunteers who contribute to its operations.

• Loaning a wide variety of toys, including educational, creative, and outdoor play items, with members able to borrow multiple toys every two weeks.
• Organising community events such as play dates and morning teas to celebrate milestones and foster connections.
• Engaging volunteers and local students to assist with toy maintenance, lending services, and administrative tasks.
• Partnering with local businesses and government bodies to secure funding and resources for ongoing improvements.
