The Mulgrave Shire Historical Society Inc was established in 1977 by dedicated volunteers committed to preserving and showcasing the rich history of the former Mulgrave Shire in North Queensland. The Mulgrave History Museum is the flagship project of the Society, located at 60 Gordon Street, Gordonvale. This wheelchair-friendly, air-conditioned museum brings to life the history of the Mulgrave Shire through authentic artefacts dating from the late 1800s, including displays on miners, timber cutters, rainforest Aboriginal culture, and the pioneering families who shaped the region. The museum also highlights significant wartime history, such as the training of the American 503rd Parachute Regiment during WWII, making it a key cultural and educational resource for visitors and locals alike.
