Nurosafe Ltd

Nurosafe, originally established in 1990 in Sydney, Australia, by Dr. Adrian Cohen as Necksafe Ltd., rebranded to Nurosafe in 2019. This organisation is registered by the Australian Charities and Not For Profits Commission (ACNC) as a Health Promotion Charity (HPC) with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status. Nurosafe is dedicated to the elimination of preventable head and neck injuries through a robust blend of awareness, advocacy, education, and research.

The mission of Nurosafe is to create a world where head and neck injuries are significantly reduced, if not entirely prevented, thanks to comprehensive awareness and education. Its vision is to foster a future where individuals and organisations are equipped with the necessary knowledge and tools to manage and, crucially, prevent these injuries.

Main Objectives

Nurosafe’s primary objectives include the acute management of spinal injuries and concussion management. The organisation champions significant advocacy efforts such as Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) research, establishing a national concussion centre, and lobbying for legislative changes like the Lystedt Law to prevent Second Impact Syndrome.

The target beneficiaries of Nurosafe’s activities include athletes, coaches, medical professionals, and the broader community. Special emphasis is placed on individuals at risk of concussion and other head and neck injuries, including female athletes and adolescents.

Their advocacy extends to creating awareness on issues such as Post-Concussion Syndrome (PCS) and advocating for the elimination of “the bump” in AFL football.
