Shining Refuge in Weimar: Protecting Kenya's Most Vulnerable Children
Shining Refuge in Weimar was born from the urgent need to help children suffering horrific abuse in Kenya. The organisation has built separate houses for boys and girls on their farm, plus Kenya’s first video link courtroom, enabling traumatised children to testify safely away from their perpetrators.
They operate an on-site refugee school for at-risk children, run Sunday feeding programmes for street families, and care for 70 residential children plus 130 off-farm children. With 45 staff members, nine German Shepherds, and comprehensive medical coverage, costs are enormous but the life-changing impact is immeasurable.
