It empowers mothers and teens aged 12+ to engage in proactive community involvement, building lasting connections as ‘akka’ (big sister) figures while making a positive impact. Inspired by over two decades of personal volunteering experience with Parikrma, the project promotes personal growth and social responsibility.
Mother and Teen Volunteering: A Journey of Connection and Impact
The Akka Project offers mothers and teens a unique volunteering experience at Parikrma Humanity Foundation, supporting street and slum children aged 4-18 through classroom engagement, passion projects, creative arts, sports, skill development, and English skills. Participants immerse in Bangalore’s vibrant culture, with cultural training, accommodation, 24/7 support, community visits to orphanages, and local cuisine provided for a meaningful journey of community involvement and cultural exchange.
Mission and Vision
The mission of The Akka Project is to empower mothers and teens to take action through volunteering, fostering personal growth, social responsibility, and lasting connections. It envisions raising globally-minded, compassionate young women by demonstrating empathy and compassion actively, while giving back to the community at Parikrma.
Main Objectives
- Facilitate shared volunteering experiences between mothers and teens aged 12+.
- Coordinate volunteer activities that create positive impact on children.

Benefiting Groups
The Akka Project supports local street and slum children aged 4-18 at Parikrma’s four schools and one college in Bangalore, India, serving more than 2,500 students from 99 slum communities.
